On June 17, 2016, the Parliament of Canada passed bill C-14 which allows eligible Canadian adults to request medical assistance in dying (MAiD). The passage of the bill was the culmination of an ongoing debate on the right of people to control the time and circumstances of their own death.
This module will outline the Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) process as it currently stands in Newfoundland and Labrador as part of the spectrum of end of life options.
